Collections

Maintaining and expanding rich collections reflecting our diverse voices, cultures, communities and perspectives
We amplify diverse voices, cultures, communities and perspectives to build collections that support teaching and scholarly endeavors.
We maintain rich collections that support the curricular and research needs of Western Michigan University. These funds purchase monographs, media and electronic materials above and beyond what our operating funds can support.
Open access
We support open access publishing to promote ethical, equitable and sustainable scholarly dissemination practices. Developing effective pathways for publishing enhances our University's and scholars' reputations and provides free, immediate access to research worldwide.
Open educational resource grants
We support Western faculty and instructors in adopting or creating textbooks and course content that are affordable and publicly available. These free, high-quality resources help students learn and stay in class and college. Every student has access to their open textbook from day one of class—no one gets left behind based on their ability to buy a textbook.
Your support for the Dwight B. Waldo Library Development Fund helps us invest in collections and publishing initiatives that reflect and uplift our global academic community, and make education more affordable and accessible for all students.
