GIS Account Access

The University Libraries’ shared GIS accounts are intended for Western Michigan University community members to explore, learn and apply GIS technology to their academic projects. Any misuse, including commercial use, is strictly prohibited and will lead to license revocation. Further information can be found in ESRI’s Terms of Use.  

Our shared GIS accounts are intended for desktop usage of ArcGIS Pro with locally stored data. These accounts are not intended for any of ESRI’s hosted services (e.g., ArcGIS Online, StoryMaps, Survey123, Experience Builder, etc.).

Any data uploaded to the shared accounts will be visible to other users. Therefore, sensitive data must never be uploaded to ESRI services using the Libraries’ shared GIS accounts. If you have research with sensitive data that requires the use of ESRI-hosted projects, contact the School of Environment, Geography, and Sustainability to request a personal, named user account.
