Western Michigan University's Student Recreation Center is proud to be the first F45 college campus studio in Michigan (sixth in the United States). Located in racquetball courts 1 & 2 at the Student Recreation Center, the 1,600 square foot F45 studio incorporates technology into an array of circuit-based workouts in a team environment to provide a totally immersive experience that is fun and fast.
What is F45?
F45 is a functional training program that incorporates a variety of fun and efficient workouts. Classes are a 45 minute high intensity, circuit training workout. There are over 30 different workouts delivered through a series of televisions mounted on the front wall. The workouts are created by F45 Training Headquarters from a database of over 3,000 different exercises. Each day of the week has a different focus and workout. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays are cardio days, while Tuesdays and Thursdays focus on strength-based training. Classes held on Saturdays and Sundays are a hybrid of cardio and strength training.
How are classes structured?
The TVs that are mounted on the wall provide an organized, station-by-station diagram for the workout. This provides a visual tool for participants to move from station to station throughout the workout. Each station has a group working together and encouraging each other to successfully perform each exercise. Trained F45 instructors are in every class to help with exercise modifications, motivation and encouragement. Daily class capacities will vary from 27 to 36, depending on the class format.
How can I reserve a spot in class?
Reservations spots are only available to those patrons that have purchased a F45 membership. Your spot can be reserved up to one day in advance in person at the SRC or by phone on the day of the class. For more information, download our F45 policies & procedures document. The number of spots that can be reserved vary based on the maximum capacity of the class:
- 24 capacity=15 maximum reserved spots for members
- 27 capacity=18 maximum reserved spots for members
- 28 capacity=19 maximum reserved spots for members
- 36 capacity=27 maximum reserved spots for members
What do I do when I come for class?

Non-reserved spots are available on a walk-up basis on a first-come, first-serve basis and become available 30 minutes prior to the start of class.
