Meet Ayla: Advisor

I am an academic advisor in the College of Education and Human Development. Well, I am a very people centered person, so I love working with students and I love helping. So helping them have the best possible life at Western is something I really enjoy.

My house doesn't count right? But I really enjoy going out for turmeric lattes. They have them seasonally at Water Street and they also have them at the Factory Coffee downtown. So when I'm out and about, I will usually swing by one of those places.

I really like the fountain over by Miller. When I take my walks at lunchtime, I usually, like, circle the fountain. So that's really refreshing and beautiful to see. And I also really like Sangren just because I've been here for a lot of my academic career and now I'm here as an employee. And I think it's a beautiful building. They have the cafe so you can get food and drink if you need it. Lots of study spaces if you need to meet with people or study by yourself.

I would say that I would want to be able to fly just because I think it would be such a cool feeling to just be able to lift off and go anywhere you want. Feeling the wind in your face and everything. I think it'd be a lot of fun.

Western is a really friendly people centered community. I would say if you know someone is coming and looking for colleges or looking for a place to work or trying to find their fit, Western has all of the tools to help you do that while supporting you through that process. So if you're an undecided major student and you're like, I'm not sure what I want to do, you can come to Western and we can help you figure those things out through counseling services or through any of our other services.

And if you're looking for a connection we have such a large campus with so many programs you'll find like minded people wherever you go. And I think you'll have a really great time along the way.
