Changes to WMU Archives’ record transfer guidelines

We have changed our guidelines to limit the records accepted into the WMU Archives. We will continue to receive documents with historical significance or records that must be retained for eight or more years. Records with retention requirements of seven years or less will not be accepted and should be maintained by departments.

We have implemented these changes to prioritize space in the Zhang Legacy Collections Center’s storage facility, which is nearing capacity. Contact John Winchell, the Archives curator, with questions about records retention and transfer requests.
