This workshop equips graduate students and faculty advisors with essential knowledge about using copyrighted materials in dissertations and theses. Learn to identify when copyrighted materials require permission or may fall under ‘fair use.’ Gain practical skills to confidently incorporate images, tables, and other copyrighted content in your research while adhering to legal and ethical standards.

After attending this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the role and significance of the fair use exception within copyright law.
  • Analyze and apply the four Fair Use Factors to various scenarios.
  • Consider other relevant factors such as Creative Commons and public domain when using materials.
