Giving Day – April 16, 2025

On April 16, or Giving Day, College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) alumni, faculty, staff and friends will show their love for WMU, unite to harness the power of giving and help provide a higher degree of opportunity for students. Join in the effort by fundraising or donating just $5 before midnight!

New year, same goal.

As reigning Giving Day Champions—having had the most unique donors last year—we’re excited to continue our winning streak and take on this year’s ultimate challenge! The college or unit withthe largest increase in donations from last year will win a $10,000 prize, and we’re determined tomake it ours! By creating exciting challenges within our college, we aim to increase our unique donors by 40%, adding 110 new donors to reach a total of 400 donors.

How can you help?

It’s simple—find a CEHD fund or designation that you’re passionate about and become a champion! By championing your favorite fund, not only will you compete for exciting prizes, but you'll also play a key role in helping CEHD rise to the top and outshine our competitors! If you feel you do not have the capacity to become a champion, consider helping us out by finding a fund you love and donating a minimum of $5.

Become a champion!

We ask that all champions use Donor Drive, a platform similar to GoFundMe, to facilitate and track all donations.

The ask:

  • Page setup (15 minutes)
  • Personally reach out to a list of 20 contacts, your close network, on 4/16.
  • Ask them to donate at least $5 to your fund.
  • Win prizes!

Use this link to set up your Donor Drive page prior to Giving Day.

Having difficulty setting up your page? Contact Nicole Leffler or Hollywood Watkins.

Donate to a CEHD fund.

The College appreciates donations to any fund on Giving Day however, we are encouraging donations be made to the CEHD Student Resilience Fund. This fund is designed to support students facing financial hardships that hinder them from completing their degree in the College of Education and Human Development. This fund provides assistance with current essential needs such as textbooks, class fees, account balances, campus parking fees, technology, and more.

This fund is made possible through the generosity of donors.

Bella

AnnaBelle – Nutrition and Dietetics

As someone who has lived with severe allergies my whole life, I understand how critical proper nutrition and support can be for those struggling with dietary restrictions. During high school, I was often sick and felt alone in managing my health, so I am fundraising to ensure that others in similar situations have access to nutritionists and resources.
Ari

Ari – Women of Western (CEHD)

As an exercise student and aspiring athletic trainer, Ari wants to encourage and normalize women working in the male-dominated fields of human performance and health education. This fund, created by women for women, will help support and uplift women in this industry, giving them the resources to thrive. Together, we can help fellow females achieve victory in this field!
Arianna

Arianna – Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher Education

I'm Arianna, and I fell in love with Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) in high school, especially through my interior design teacher, Mrs. Barth. Now, I’m fundraising to support the FCS Teacher Education program at WMU, aiming to create more opportunities, resources, and connections for students in this niche field to thrive and succeed.
Dagny

Dagny – Fashion Design Student Supplies

I'm Dagny, and my passion for fashion design comes from my love of self-expression and creativity. Inspired by the students at Western Michigan University, especially at the April MODA fashion show, I’m raising funds to ensure all fashion design students have access to quality materials. This will help foster equality, learning, and growth in the program.
Dhani

Dhani – Future Teachers of Color

As treasurer, I've witnessed our group’s financial needs. Dhani, a special education student, relies on FTC to provide a space for students of color to connect, raise awareness, and promote representation in education. Your donation will fund events, resources, and networking opportunities, supporting a community working to transform education and representation.

Doug – Exercise Science Interns

I’m Doug, and my passion for exercise science and physical therapy stems from a love of athletics and personal experience. Watching my disabled military vet dad regain strength through physical therapy inspired me to help others, particularly veterans. I shadowed his VA therapist, realizing this could be a career. Now, I’m fundraising for Exercise Science students.

Elaine – Aspiring Educators of Michigan

I’m Elaine, an elementary education student fundraising for Aspiring Educators of Michigan (AEM), a group connecting future educators with resources and insights. While AEM offers valuable opportunities, funding limits its potential. I aim to expand events like our "So You Want to Be a Teacher?" Conference, providing teacher kits and paid speakers for aspiring educators.
moises

Moises – Future Teachers of Color

As president of FTC, Moises has seen firsthand the organization's vital role, despite limited funding. FTC supports students of color with career development and connection opportunities. However, funding cuts have impacted events like the Inspire Conference. Help Moises and FTC continue providing resources, fostering growth, and ensuring a lasting impact.

Sydney – Student Resilience Fund

As a Student Success Coach, I’ve seen how financial emergencies can derail students’ education. The Student Resilience Fund provides vital support during crises, helping students stay enrolled and succeed. Just $5 can make a difference. Please consider donating before midnight—your gift helps future educators and human service leaders overcome challenges and stay on track.
