Chemistry

Students majoring in chemistry at Western Michigan University may prepare for a career in industry, teaching or graduate study in chemistry, biochemistry, medicine and dentistry or pharmaceuticals. The course offerings for the undergraduate degrees are structured to give a broad but thorough grounding in the elements of chemistry. The chemistry curriculum can be fortified by a minor in physics, mathematics or biological sciences.

The College of Arts and Sciences at Western Michigan University offers several opportunities for you to get a head start on your graduate degree while enrolled as an undergraduate. Through WMU’s Accelerated Graduate Degree Program, students meeting certain criteria can enroll in up to 12 credit hours of designated 5000- and 6000-level courses for graduate credit. These designated courses may be used in completion of both the bachelor’s and master’s degree.

The College of Arts and Sciences at Western Michigan University offers the opportunity for you to earn a bachelor's degree from one of our partnering institutions and your master's degree from Western Michigan University in only five years.

Aquinas College students may be able to transfer a maximum of twelve undergraduate credits between Aquinas and WMU for application toward a WMU master's degree in chemistry. Information coming soon.
