Dr. D Eric Archer

2021 Multicultural Advocate Award for Global Engagement

Dr. Eric Archer is an associate professor of higher education leadership in the Department of Educational Leadership, Research, and Technology at Western Michigan University. He earned his Ph.D. in education leadership and policy studies, as well as his M.S. in marriage and family therapy, from Oklahoma State University.

In addition, Dr. Archer earned a B.S. in human development and family studies from the University of Alabama and is a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS). His research interests include issues of diversity and inclusion in postsecondary education with an emphasis on international education and the internationalization of higher education both in the U.S. and abroad. His work has been published in a variety of outlets including the Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies in Education, the Journal of College Student Retention: Research, Theory & Practice, the Journal for the Study of Sports and Athletes in Education, Sports and Athletics in Higher Education (ASHE Reader), Disability as Diversity in Higher Education: Policies and Practices to Enhance Student Success, and in the 10th Anniversary edition of Reframing Campus Conflict: Student Conduct Practice Through the Lens of Inclusive Excellence.
