During the spring 2019 semester, the Western Michigan University College of Education and Human Development will have four candidates on campus as finalists for the position of Associate Dean for Academic Services. Stakeholders will have the opportunity to engage with the candidates and provide feedback. Public presentations are open to everyone and noted after each individual's name below.

Position description

Major duties

  • Supervises, monitors, and evaluates CEHD research and grant programs, and serve as a liaison with OVPR.
  • Serves as CEHD dean's office liaison in the CEHD-WMU curriculum process.
  • Reviews and approves/disapproves applications for graduate faculty status.
  • Provides administrative oversight in undergraduate and graduate curriculum development and evaluation processes.
  • Supervises college technology, advising, student success and marketing.
  • Serves as a liaison between College of Education and Human Development and Extended University Programs.
  • Coordinates recruitment and other student success-related initiatives within College of Education and Human Development.
  • Other assignments as needed and assigned by the dean.

Minimum qualifications

  • Demonstrated understanding of academic data and the ability to use data in making decisions.
  • Demonstrate the ability of supporting faculty in doing research and seeking external funding.
  • Currently hold a rank of associate professor or above.

Desired qualifications

  • Demonstrated academic leadership and administrative ability.
  • Prior administrative experience.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Understand the academic role.
  • Knowledge of CEHD programs.
  • 6 years of teaching experience in higher education.
  • Adept at conflict resolution.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups in program development and implementation.
  • Strong listening skills.
  • Demonstrated scholarship.
