Inspiring Future Teachers of Color Conference
Date: February 29, 2020
Time: 12 - 5 p.m.
Location: Bernhard Center Ballroom to start and end as a large group (and adjacent rooms for sessions)
Cost: free but attendees must provide own transportation and high school chaperones to and from event, free lunch and materials also provided for all attendees.
Purpose: host a professional conference for undergraduate students of color pursuing a Pre-K-12 teaching degree and high school students of color interested in pursuing a Pre-K-12 teaching degree. Note that anyone is welcome to attend but the content focus is on future teachers of color. Aiming for 200 attendees.
Rationale: To inspire future teachers of color and potential future teachers of color through mentorship, education, networking, and visibility.
Events: Opening and closing sessions for all attendees, student attendees to attend three workshop sessions while coordinators are attending an alliance planning session.
Capacity: Registration limited to the first 200 people.
