Background of Functional Area: Aviation Maintenance, Entry Level Technician
Project Description: Aviation Maintenance Technician will perform aircraft maintenance and servicing on the corporate aircraft in Amway’s fleet. With limited supervision, the intern will perform maintenance service tasks that follow the Alticor Repair Station Manual.
Candidate Development: The intern will understand tool control under Amway’s safety management program; understand FAA required Parts Inventory Control and follow proper maintenance procedures for an FAA Approved Repair Station.
Desired Degree: Aviation Maintenance School/College certified under FAR Part 147. Associates Degree working toward a BS in Aviation Maintenance Management or other Aviation Maintenance degree. Intern must be perusing an FAA rating for Airframe and Powerplant License.
Desired Skills: An ideal intern would have some degree of mechanical aptitude. Must be self-disciplined, versatile, and coachable. They must have computer software and program skills for Computerized Maintenance Programs. They will ensure documents and records are maintained in compliance with federal law. Interns are responsible to coordinate and inspect parts within Amway’s system. They would function at an Apprentice to Junior level. The ideal intern would possess the basic skills and fundamental knowledge required to perform the position. In addition, have a moderate understanding of the general job aspects and some understanding of the detailed aspects of the job. They will work within clearly defined standard operating procedures and regulations. Receives instructions and close supervision, consistent with the amount of on-the-job experience. Work is closely inspected for adherence to quality and safety guidelines.
*This is a summer 2019 internship; qualified candidates must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and one semester or more left of school to complete at the beginning of their internship. Candidates who have graduated are not eligible to intern. This position is located at the Amway hangar, Gerald R. Ford Int’l Airport.
