Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals

The purpose of the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals is to enhance, promote, and educate the multicultural aviation community. This is accomplished by fostering a strong support system between the educational and professional environments in the field of aviation. A primary task of OBAP is to mentor youth in the local community, to assist in helping them achieve their fullest potential.

Students also gain access to the organization's numerous scholarship opportunities, in addition to networking, leadership, and social opportunities. Chapter members are expected to also be a national OBAP member.

OBAP WMU is meant to educate the community, provide diverse representation, event and volunteering efforts on behalf of the Aviation program at Western Michigan University.  Their biggest goal is to represent Western Michigan University at the annual national Organization for Black Aerospace Professionals convention.

As a member of the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals, you join a network of current and aspiring aerospace professionals dedicated to continuing the organization’s 43-year legacy of influence in aerospace. OBAP stands as a leader in the aerospace community, providing programming to equip future aerospace professionals, and forging partnerships to ensure access and diversity in aerospace for decades to come.
