National Gay Pilots Association

The NGPA WMU Chapter at the Winter Warm Up in Palm Springs, CA.

The NGPA is about community. Upon discovering the NGPA many people feel as if they have found where they belong. The NGPA is a home for LGBTQ+ people and allies with a passion for aviation. National Gay Pilots Association at Western Michigan University is the second collegiate chapter to become a part of the NGPA national network. The NGPA was designed to not only support those within the LGBTQ+ aviation community but to encourage an equality amongst us all!

"The NGPA mission statement is to build, support, and unite the LGBTQ+ aviation community worldwide."

NGPA provides opportunities that include social events, professional events, and even scholarship opportunities! The chapter holds bi-monthly meetings, in addition to annual events like Flight Deck Pride and Holiday Layover. Each year, the NGPA comes together for one of the largest aviation expositions in Palm Springs, CA. This event features corporate and airline scouts which provide an excellent opportunity for professional growth and social outreach to each of its members. Students are given the opportunity to volunteer throughout the event and meet other university chapters.
