Internship: NTSB Aviation Investigative

This position is being filled under the Pathways Internship Program. The program is designed to provide students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with paid work opportunities to explore Federal careers while still in school.

Responsibilities

The Office of Aviation Safety is to investigate all air carrier, commuter and air taxi accidents, in-flight collisions, fatal and non-fatal general aviation accidents, support foreign investigation conducted overseas and evaluate safety concerns related to aviation transportation. The student will assists/supports accident investigations; gather and organize data from various databases and sources; construct accidents timelines and recommends probably causes; conduct research involving testing and/or simulation activities; and conduct/support verification, analysis and evaluation of accident data.

Conditions of Employment

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Males born after 12/31/59 must be registered for Selective Service
  • Suitability for Federal employment
  • Financial Interest in transportation enterprises is prohibited
  • Bargaining Unit Position: (NO)
  • Direct Deposit is required.
  • Trial or probationary period may be required.
  • Be at least 16 years of age at the time of appointment
  • Enrolled in an accredited educational institution at least half time
