Job: Mid Carolina Regional Airport Director
Posted by Reina Cooke on August 22, 2019Rowan County is seeking a new Airport Director who can manage the day-to-day operations
of the Rowan County Airport and staff; coordinates security, law enforcement, fire protection,
risk management, and public safety concerns; implements Airport policies and procedures;
prepares the Airport’s operating budget, staffing, and personnel-related matters; develops and
delivers training for Airport personnel on regulatory compliance with Federal, State, and
Local laws and procedures; coordinates emergency activities and implements emergency
plans; coordinates and supervises compliance of contractors and tenants to various
environmental and safety requirements while on Airport property; develops public relations,
attends public meetings, and resolves citizen complaints concerning Airport operations.
Requires thorough knowledge of Airport and Aviation operations, principles, and practices
relating to risk management, security, safety, and fire protection; thorough knowledge of the
methods and practices employed in directing and supervising service personnel and
operations; ability to plan, develop, and conduct training programs; ability to communicate
effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with County officials, supervisors, employees, and the general public; ability to
conduct detailed analytical evaluations and studies as they relate to federal regulations; and
ability to write, review, and administer contracts for Airport construction, repairs, and
services.
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation, Public Safety, Personnel Management, or related
field and four years of professional experience in airport operations, aviation management,
maintenance, and FAA regulations; or an equivalent combination of education and
experience; licensed professional Engineer or licensed Pilot preferred. All degrees must be
from an accredited college or university.
Hiring salary between $63,609.51 and $101,775.23; commensurate with
education and experience.
