Position Summary:

If you answered yes to these questions, then submit your resume to us! The Guest Experience Ambassador (GEA) position sets the stage and atmosphere for our Guests’ visits. Ride Operator GEA staff are responsible for safely operating all the Air Zoo attractions while ensuring our Guests have the best experience possible during their visit. Point-of-Sale GEA staff process admission tickets and membership sales, answer phones, and assist our Guests. Safety, customer service, professionalism, and accuracy are the priority and helping others have a wonderful experience is part of the reward.

Status:

Non-Exempt (Hourly); Part Time

General Responsibilities
  • Adhere to all Air Zoo On-Floor Standards and Guest Experience Procedures

  • Immediately report injuries or incidents to the manager on duty.
  • Provide evacuation or sheltering assistance to guests, as required by the situation, while following appropriate procedures.
  • Quantity of weekend hours required.
  • Ride Operation Responsibilities: successfully complete ride safety and operation training. Then, maintain and demonstrate knowledge of all ride safety and operational standards.
  • Safely operate and control admission to all experiences and attractions within standards set by the Director of Operations, Director of Guest Experience and/or Manager Guest Experience Manager or designee.
  • Be aware of equipment operation standards and immediately report any deviations or malfunctions in the operation of the equipment to the Operations department staff.
  • Immediately report any damaged equipment or area damage to the Operations department staff. 
  • Maintain the highest standards of experience and attractions operation for safety, quality, and reliability.
  • Ticket Counter/Membership Desk Responsibilities: maintain knowledge of all current pricing, memberships, programs, events, and exhibits. Consistently communicate this information to our guests in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the operational area of the attractions (all areas within the perimeter fencing).

  • Provide accurate and efficient processing of admission tickets, program sales, and membership sales.
  • Provide accurate and efficient processing of simple donations.
  • Provide support for any guest-related transactions. • Maintain a clean and neat appearance of all lobby areas during your shift.
  • Accurately follow daily cash in, transaction, and cash out processes.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Customer service experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to handle stressful situations
  • Ability to interact with the public in a positive and enthusiastic manner
  • Superior interpersonal skills to foster effective working relationships at all levels
  • Ability to effectively execute the Air Zoo’s guest service philosophy
  • Ability to undertake multiple concurrent tasks and work in an environment where interruptions are common
  • Must maintain confidentiality
  • Must be flexible with the ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Well-groomed appearance and compliance with the Air Zoo’s Dress Code
  • Professional work and punctuality habits • Computer and general office equipment skills (Windows, Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to stand and be on your feet for extended periods of time
  • Repetitive stair climbing, bending, twisting, and lifting required to operate attractions
  • Ability to climb in and out of attractions pits, approximately 32 inches deep, when necessary
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to operate point-of sale-equipment and attractions within guidelines

SCHEDULE:

Part Time- Days including Weekends. Occasional evening hours. Approximately 15-28 hours per week. This is an on-site position at the Air Zoo in Portage, Michigan.

HEALTH REQUIREMENT & PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENINGS:

Because the Air Zoo is a public-facing organization, we encourage employees to be fully vaccinated again COVID-19 as defined by the CDC, but it is not a requirement for employment. The Air Zoo follows CDC and Kalamazoo Health Department’s guidelines for COVID testing, isolation, mask wearing, and may require masks to be Guest Experience Ambassador (GEM) worn by employees in certain settings to improve safety. Pre-employment drug screening and state & federal background checks are required for all Air Zoo employees.

COMPENSATION:

$12.00 to start with possibility to increase to $12.50 or $12.75 as trainings are completed and experience is gained.
