Michigan Association of Airport Executives
Posted by Reina Cooke on May 13, 2019The Michigan Association of Airport Executives (MAAE) is a professional airport management organization providing membership services to airport professionals located throughout the State of Michigan. The MAAE maintains a scholarship for students studying aviation management and are currently enrolled in Michigan colleges and universities or residents of Michigan who enrolled in a college or university outside the state.
The MAAE offers $1,000.00 scholarships to a full-time student who are actively pursuing an associate or baccalaureate level degree in an aviation management related program. The scholarship applications are evaluated by the MAAE Academic Relations Committee and awarded by the Executive Board.
MAAE’s scholarship is named after Robert Peckham. Bob was an airport engineer that graduated from Michigan State University and began work for Michigan Department of Aeronautics after WWII. Bob created his own firm in the early 1950s serving more then 40 airports in Michigan and mentoring hundreds of Airport Managers and Engineers along the way. Bob was a member of Michigan Association of Airport Executives since its inception in 1949. Bob passed away in 2014 at age, 92 never retiring, but always building, designing, planning for the future. Peckham Engineering won numerous awards, but Bob said, “To be honored with the naming of the MAAE Scholarship was the greatest achievement of his career. It is about the future and building those careers that will create the airports of tomorrow.”
