Scholarship Guidelines

Scholarship Background:
NetJets is the leader in private aviation. We believe that service is everyone’s job and our company mission is “To enhance the life of each owner, one exceptional travel experience at a time.” The NetJets Scholarship was designed to reinforce a love of business aviation and hospitality, reward academic merit and exemplary character, as well as inspire students to consider an exciting and rewarding career with NetJets.
Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates must major or be an accepted major with an Aviation or Hospitality focus at one of the below-listed schools.

University of North Dakota
Western Michigan University

Candidates must have a minimum 3.5 grade point average (GPA).
Candidates must attend full-time.
Candidates must have the ability work and reside in the United States.
Candidates must have no criminal record.
Selection Criteria
- 30% Commitment to a Career in Aviation or Hospitality
- 30% Embodiment of NetJets 20/20 Flight Plan principals (as determined by associated essay)
- 20% Academic Achievement
- 20% Leadership
- Exceptions may be made for Ohio and Michigan students who are majoring in Aviation or Hospitality, attend one of the 15 listed schools, but not in the matching major.
Selection Committee
- Three-to-five appropriate contacts, with the number determined by the number of applications
Award Amount
- Three Scholarships at $25,000 each, per year
Renewal
- The scholarship is not renewable, but recipients may reapply.
Payment Distribution (All awards are paid directly to the educational institution.)
- The scholarship may be used for any educational expenses. The scholarship must not displace any institutional or other aid

- Application Information
- Question confirming ability to work and reside in the United States.
- Question confirming candidate has no criminal record.
- Two Essays
- Describe your motivation and goals for majoring in Aviation or Hospitality (maximum 500 words).
- After reading the NetJets 20/20 Flight Plan, describe how you practice some of the principles of the 20/20 Flight Plan and how it connects to your Aviation or Hospitality goals. Provide specific examples.
- Resume
- Academic Letter of Recommendation
- Preferred letters are from a professor in Aviation or Hospitality
- Graduating high school seniors: provide an academic letter of recommendation, and letter of acceptance into Aviation or Hospitality program at one of the 15 eligible schools.

Deadline
- March 31, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. EST
Application and Award Process
- The Columbus Foundation sends notification of the scholarship’s availability each spring to eligible schools.
- Candidates complete the online application by the deadline.
- After the deadline, The Columbus Foundation reviews complete applications for eligibility.
- The Foundation sets up the online review.
- After selection, the Foundation sends letters to those who did not receive the scholarship.
- The Foundation sends award letters to recipients that explain the payment request process and include the proof of enrollment form.
- Once proof of enrollment has been received by the Foundation, a check will be sent to the recipient’s educational institution.
