Berg Tailwheel Scholarship
The Jane Berg Scholarship provides the opportunity for a tailwheel endorsement in a 1946 Piper J3 Cub. The scholarship provides a stipend of $1,200 for travel and $800 for the flight training ($2,000 combined value).
Back Ground:
This scholarship was setup and established to honor those that promote progress in aviation. Jane Berg was one of the many of my flight instructors and supervisors I’ve had over the years. She has the patience and a way of communicating that any teacher would envy. The time she invested in me, helped me to achieve my aviation goals and end up where I am today. My hope is that this scholarship honors her professionalism and transfers hands on flying to the applicant selected.
Scholarship Information:
This scholarship is for tailwheel training in Springfield, Illinois at the Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport (KSPI). The training will be completed in a 100HP 1946 Piper J3 Cub in accordance with 14 CFR 61.31(i). It will consist of approximately five to six hours of flight training and will conclude with a tailwheel endorsement.
This scholarship has a combined value of $2,000. Of that amount, $800.00 will be granted for the flight training. The remaining amount will be used for tranportation to the training airport, housing, food, etc. That amount will be reimbursed upon completion of the training and valid receipts. If the applicant selected is determined to be based locally*, the amount for expenses will be held for the following year’s scholarship. Applicants will have one year to complete the training or the funds for the flight portion will be forfeited.
*“local” applicants are defined by their current address residing within a 50 mile radius of KSPI
The scholarship application closes April 15th, 2022. • Contact Craig Blumer - KUGOMA LLC. , Event Coordinator - located Springfield, IL United States • Telephone: 6417998149
