Meal Plans

  • Meal plans provide students access to a variety of on-campus options no matter where you live! Meal plans provide students with access to:

  • Dining Dollars come with GOLD meal plans, which can be used instead of cash or credit at Campus Cafés throughout the academic year. Dining Dollars that are not used by the end of the current semester will roll over into the following semester/session, but will expire on June 30.

Residence Hall Meal Plans

Students choose their meal plans when they select their residence hall room. Students living in residence halls are required to have a meal plan unless their contract is in Britton/Hadley (Valley 1). Meal plans are purchased as part of a Residence Hall and Dining Services contract.

Commuter Meal Plans

Commuter Meal Plans are available to students living off-campus and in WMU Apartments, Arcadia Flats, Western View and Spindler Hall. View the Commuter Meal Plan Contract before purchasing and review the Commuter Meal Plan Expectations below.

  • How Do I Change My Meal Plan?

    Residence Hall Meal Plans

    Residence hall students may change meal plans once per semester at the beginning of the semester. You can change your meal plan during the following dates:

    Summer I: Monday, May 1 - Friday, May 19 at 5 p.m.

    Summer II: Thursday, June 22 - Friday, July 14 at 5 p.m.

    Fall: Tuesday, August 1 - Friday, September 29 at 5 p.m.

    To change your meal plan, go to GoWMU and under the My Self Service section on the left, choose the link "Residence Life Housing." For further instructions, visit Choosing Your Room.

    Commuter Meal Plans

    Commuter Meal Plan students may change meal plans once per semester at the beginning of the semester. You can change your meal plan by contacting the Dining Office at (269) 387-4844  during the following dates:

    Summer I: Monday, May 1 - Friday, May 19 at 5 p.m.

    Summer II: Thursday, June 22 - Friday, July 14 at 5 p.m.

    Fall: Tuesday, August 1 - Friday, September 29 at 5 p.m.

  • Commuter Meal Plan Expectations
    1. Commuter Meal Plans may be used for the cardholder only. Your commuter meal plan balance cannot be shared with others.
    2. Meal plans are purchased for the semester or session – unused meals will not roll over to another semester or session.
    3. Students may purchase more than one commuter meal plan each semester. Please call WMU Dining Services at (269) 387-4844 for this request.
    4. Guests may accompany a meal plan holder to a dining location by using Dining Dollars, Guest Passes, cash or credit to purchase a meal at the door.
    5. Dining Centers provide dine-in options, please do not remove food from the dining centers to eat later. Grab'n Go locations may be used to get food to go.
    6. Meal plans may be charged to your WMU student account or purchased online with a valid credit card but may not be split between the two payment options. Please review your payment options carefully to avoid service fees.

Using your meal plan

  • Your meal plan is automatically loaded onto your WMU Bronco Card. Please see "Meal Plan Contract Dates" above to determine when your meal plan begins.
  • Redeem your meals by swiping your Bronco Card at the entrance of a dining center. You may also use the Morphowave touchless entry system. Learn more here.
  • Bronco 14 Meal Plans and Commuter Block Meal Plans are declining balance plans. Each time you enter a dining center, use a Meal Exchange or use Late-Night Carryout, your meal plan balanced will be deducted. You may inquire about the number of meals remaining on your meal plan at any of those listed Dining locations.
  • Your meal plan balance may not be shared with others unless you use your Guest Passes or Dining Dollars.
  • Your Bronco Card should remain in your possession at all times. Misuse of your card may result in fines and/or disciplinary action.
  • If your Bronco Card is lost or stolen, please report it immediately to the Dining Services office at (269) 387-4844. New cards may be purchased at the Bronco Card office.

Other payment options

Students, faculty/staff and guests may also pay the door rate to enter a Dining Center using Dining Dollars, cash or credit card.
