Meet Bauer: Fashion merchandising

Bauer

I chose Western Michigan University because they have a great arts and sciences program, I'm a fashion merchandising major so the fashion side of the school is what made me choose to come here over others.

My favorite thing in the program at Western right now is definitely the teachers are very helpful, everyone's looking out for you and people like your other students and classmates also want to see you succeed. It's a great community, we have good people in it that are always trying to push others to the best they can.

Any teacher I've asked can help me with anything I've had a problem with. Advisors are great here and the teachers they're always willing to push you to the best and give you what you need to succeed.

In the fashion program we have access to sewing and computer labs. Pretty much anything we need, we will have access to whenever the time comes. We have lots of tools and materials that also help us instead of like having to go out and buy a new machine we have most of the stuff we need here so it's very cost effective

Hopefully I'll move out of Michigan and get a good job. I wanna work in a fashion clothing company, like Carhartt. I like their minimalist designs.

I'm a part of MODA which is the fashion club here at Western. We do a lot of runway shows and we have a lot of events that people can come together within the fashion field and we can connect from designers to merchandisers and also bounce off each other 's views. MODA is an good organization to be in when you're trying to connect with your community and your classmates.

If you're looking at any other options I think this program is the best one. I've been here for three years and I haven't changed my mind yet and I don't think I will. I got one year left so looking forward to it.
