There are three room change periods for residence hall students. Students may move within their existing building or to a new residence hall. Room changes are dependent on available spaces.
- Summer: After new student room selection in May, there will be a designated window where students can enter the housing portal to choose a new room or hall. Information is sent via email to your WMU student account in June.
- Fall semester: Room changes open the third week of the semester and close December 1. Inquire at the hall office of the building you want to live in regarding available space.
- Spring semester: Room changes open the third week of the semester. Inquire at the hall office of the building you want to live in regarding available space.
Students changing rooms will receive a key to their new room. After moving their belongings to the new room, they will turn in their old room key to the hall office. Mail will be forwarded to the new room, but students should update their address on GoWMU and with any companies that regularly send mail. Some magazines are unable to be forwarded.
Summer school residents who want a room change should speak with their hall director.
Students are unable to change apartments during their contract. During apartment sign up for the following year, there is a transfer option where students can pick a different apartment.
