OCL Formats
Fully online format
Synchronous Learning (with Hyflex options)
Synchronous means occurring at the same time. With this format, you will participate in live interactive online sessions during scheduled weekly evenings between 6 to 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) and go through the learning path together with your student colleagues and your instructor. You will analyze case studies, engage in group work and deliver presentations virtually in real time.
HyFlex (HF) classes are those in which the synchronous online class sessions are offered at the same time as the face-to-face class sessions for those taking class via a hybrid format in Kalamazoo. This means on-line students and face-to-face students will be engaged in learning at the same time using advanced technology.
Asynchronous Learning
Asynchronous means not keeping time together. With this format, you will access and review course content, demonstrate what you have learned and communicate with your classmates and instructor on your own time throughout the week of a scheduled class.
Hybrid format in Kalamazoo
With the hybrid format, you will complete the program with a blend of hybrid and online courses. Online courses are delivered synchronously and asynchronously. Hybrid courses meet in-person, on campus in Kalamazoo 5 to 6 evenings per semester with the remainder of the coursework completed online.
Sample Schedules
Complete the program at your own pace. Some students prefer a more accelerated program plan and take multiple courses per semester. Others desire a slower pace and complete the program by taking one course each semester.
