International Registered Student Organizations

Western Michigan University hosts hundreds of registered student organizations, many of which have an international theme or focus. Some groups showcase other cultures, some function as student unions for specific countries/regions, and some groups exist to host international events. Increase your local and global engagement while earning your WMU degree by becoming a member of one of these groups! Even if you've never been to Kalamazoo, we are sure you will find lots to enjoy here. With a population of more than 325,000, Kalamazoo is the sixth largest metropolitan area in Michigan and among the 150 largest in the country. Kalamazoo is not only a center of higher education, it's a vibrant community with lots to offer, including local festivals, art and music institutes, and outdoor recreation areas. Scholarship and Funding Opportunities

There are a multitude of scholarship and funding opportunities for the Department of Educational Leadership, Research and Technology at Western Michigan University. The department also hires graduate students (typically doctoral students), as needed, to assist faculty with research and program development. In addition, usually one graduate teaching assistant position is available to teach certain undergraduate educational technology courses.

Dissertation Writing Support

Doctoral students who need encouragement and support during the dissertation phase of their PhD program can work with the CEHD Dissertation Writing Coach through either one-on-one consultations or in weekly writing workshops held in Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids. The elective/no credit workshops are ideal for those who would benefit from the camaraderie and accountability of a structured writing time, as well as additional support with their writing process.
