Aviation Flight Science: The mission of the Aviation Flight Science Program (AFSJ) is to provide industry with a professional aviator who serves as a responsible leader within an organization. Graduates will exhibit high levels of technical skill, leadership ability, teamwork, and global awareness that will make them effective problem solvers in a diverse and safety-oriented aviation industry. 

 Aviation Management and Operations: The Aviation Management and Operations program at Western Michigan University's College of Aviation focuses on preparing resilient, engaged, and competent professionals for meaningful careers in the aviation industry. Through a deliberately developed curriculum of aviation-specific knowledge, leadership growth, and ethical practice, students garner skillsets to manage operations across airports, and commercial and general aviation services. 

 Aviation Technical Operations: The mission of the Tech-Ops program is to provide comprehensive high-quality education and training to individuals who aspire to become skilled aviation maintenance technicians and leaders in the aviation industry. We are committed to preparing our students to succeed in the competitive and ever-changing aviation industry by imparting knowledge, skills, and values that align with the highest standards of the industry. 

Aviation Flight Science Program: 

1. Graduates will be prepared to enter the aviation industry as professional aviators and have the technical expertise to operate modern aircraft and flight management systems safely and effectively.
2. Graduates will demonstrate the intellectual and ethical skills expected of future Captains. They will apply concepts of Crew Resource Management, effective communication, and team leadership in a global environment.
3. Graduates will understand the broader aviation industry, including international operations, aviation regulations, sustainability, and organizational management. They will be prepared to adapt to emerging technologies and an evolving industry through lifelong learning.” 

 Aviation Management and Operations Program:  

1. Evaluate aviation safety and security procedures to identify risks and recommend improvements in operational environments.
2. Apply airport and airline operations knowledge to support safe, efficient, and compliant aviation activities in a variety of industry roles.
3. Demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly, collaborate effectively, and contribute to team-based problem solving in aviation organizations to address operational challenges.
4. Utilize general and commercial aviation specific knowledge and ethical principles to manage operations in areas such as airports and commercial and general aviation services.
5. Establish working knowledge regarding current trends and innovations in the global aviation industry by analyzing reports, regulations, and emerging technologies. 

 Aviation Technical Operations Program: 

1. Demonstrate technical competence in aviation maintenance by qualifying to take the Federal Aviation Administration Airframe and Powerplant certification examinations.
2. Demonstrate advanced technical knowledge and skills
3. Be knowledgeable about the aviation maintenance industry structure, organization and career paths
