Matilda McLean joined the College of Aviation at Western Michigan University in 2017. She holds an MS/BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Food Technologies, Bulgaria, and is certified by the FAA in Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) maintenance. Her expertise encompasses a wide range of technical subjects, including aircraft engines, aircraft systems, blueprint reading, mathematics, and electronics.
At WMU’s College of Aviation, Matilda McLean primarily teaches technical courses, including Advanced Aircraft Systems, Introduction to Airframes and Systems, and Introduction to Aircraft Powerplants. Her classes focus on hands-on learning and real-world applications, drawing from her experience and specialized training with GE Aviation, Southwest Airlines, Alaska, and Pratt & Whitney.
Before joining Western Michigan University, she taught at institutions such as Cincinnati State, Sinclair College, the University of Cincinnati in Ohio, and Ivy Tech in Indiana.
