Since its founding, SBA has experienced strong growth every year, and we anticipate continued accelerated growth for the foreseeable future. As a result, we are seeking an intern for Summer 2019 with a background in aviation/airport management to assist with client assignments and support our senior staff working on client deliverables. Strong performance by the intern has the potential to lead to a full-time position with SBA at the conclusion of the internship.

Typical assignments can include:

• organizational structure review and program/department evaluations

• compensation review and comparative analysis

• governance and organizational review/analysis

• management support and Board development

• revenue optimization, both aeronautical, concessions, and non-aeronautical

• economic development and program support

• extension of staff services, recruitment, and retention, including executive recruitment

• tenant negotiations & FBO assistance

• RFP development and solicitation

• among others

POSITION SUMMARY

The intern position will assist senior staff in completing client assignments consisting of research and analysis, report writing/editing/review/formatting, and project administration, as well as marketing and public relations and client communications.

Location:

The internship will be located at our corporate headquarters in Albany, NY in the Corporate Woods business development park.

Term:

10 weeks starting mid-June, at 40 hours per week.

Pay:

The internship position will be paid at $15.00/hour. No other benefits are included with this internship.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collect, organize, and analyze data related to airport operations and management issues.

• Prepare draft reports and deliverables based on data collection and analysis.

• Work with senior staff, management, and client senior staff and Board members on assignments collecting data, conducting analyses, and presenting findings.

• Drafting, editing, and reviewing client communications and other firm communications and marketing/business development materials.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Education:

Senior in a bachelor’s degree program with a focus on either aviation or airport management.

Preference will be given to those with GPAs at 3.0 or above; we encourage applicants to list their GPA on their resume.

Preferred Skills/Knowledge

Communication

• Ability to communicate complex issues in a logical, structured, and concise manner

• Ability to perform research and analysis, as well as develop and deliver reports and presentations

Problem Solving & Analytics

• Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to gather facts, conduct analysis, and translate data into meaningful insights

Strategic Thinking

• Strong systems thinker (with an overall business view) and capable of connecting ideas and concepts

• Ability to quickly learn new client business areas and become an effective problem solver in that issue/assignment

Aviation Proficiency

• Basic knowledge of FAA regulations pertaining to airport operations and management

• Understanding of aviation terminology and acronyms

• Ability to apply collective aviation knowledge, concepts, and skills to work assignments
