NBAA Steve Brown Leadership Scholarship
NBAA’s Steve Brown Leadership Scholarship
NBAA created the Steve Brown Leadership Scholarship to honor the association’s former chief operating officer, who retired in 2022. In coordination with NBAA Charities, the scholarship supports students interested in pursuing a career in business aviation who are currently enrolled in programs to achieve this goal.
Application Deadline: July 30, 2023
Candidate Requirements:
- Students currently enrolled in a university aviation program that is a member of UAA and NBAA (preference will be given to AABI-accredited institutions)
- Sophomore standing or higher
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- U.S. Citizenship/Permanent Resident
- Completed Application Package including, 1. A 500- to 1,000-word essay 2. Current Resume 3. Two signed letters of recommendation 4. Unofficial Transcript
- Application Package must be submitted by the application deadline to be considered.
Application Package Information:
Scholarship applicants must provide a 500- to 1,000-word essay that describes how their leadership skills in their aviation studies embody one or more of NBAA’s Core Values:

- Promoting Community
Essays will be evaluated by NBAA’s Business Aviation Management Committee (BAMC).
Applicants must also provide a resume that highlights education and professional experience, as well as volunteer work or extracurricular activities that showcase their leadership skills.
Two letters of recommendation and transcript are also required.
Award Amount:
Two awards of $1,500 each, made payable directly to the institution in which the student is enrolled. Award announced at NBAA – BACE. For all NBAA Charities scholarships, applicants are limited to receiving one award per person, per year.
