NAFI & King Schools Scholarship for Certificated Flight Instructors
nafi / king schools scholarship for certified flight instructors
King Schools and NAFI have teamed up to create an opportunity for a CFI to receive a valuable scholarship to further their education and training. The award includes $5,000 to apply toward an initial CFI rating or any CFI add-on rating, access to the entire library of King Schools online courses for life (valued at over $14,000), and FIRCs for life. Applicants must be a NAFI member, holding a current FAA Commercial certificate with an Instrument rating, or a CFI certificate. (Scholarship value over $19,000). Martha and John King are co-chairmen of King Schools, the largest provider of online training for pilots from student through professional. A primary mission of King Schools is to support flight instructors by preparing their clients for FAA knowledge tests and providing training insights through King's Flight Instructor Refresher Course.
Candidate and Application Requirements:
- Applicant must provide all documentation and complete all forms to be considered

- Two one-page recommendation letters
- Typed, descriptive 500-word essay
- Professional resume
- Copies of the front and back of all aviation certificates and copy of medical certificate
Descriptive essay and resume should address the following:
- Your aviation history and goals
- What you have done for yourself to achieve your goals
- Where you see yourself in 5 and 10 years
- How the scholarship will help you achieve your objective and your present financial need
- Flight or other training/education for which you need assistance; how your previous training was financed
- Educational scholarships, awards, and honors
- Demonstrated involvement in aviation activities
Application Process:
- Submissions will be accepted starting July 29th, 2023
- Applications will be accepted by email only
- The scholarship application is hosted on the King Schools website
- The application is an interactive PDF that you can fill out, save, and send by email
- You can also print the forms, scan them, and send as a file attachment
- Application Deadline: January 4th, 2024
