Beginning Jan. 4, 2021, WMU students within one year of last attendance, Kalamazoo College and Kalamazoo Valley Community College students or employees will be required to pay a buy-in fee to receive services on their first visit to the health center each semester.
The health center will charge affected visitors a fee of $65 per WMU semester (Fall or Spring) or per combined Summer sessions I and II. The buy-in period goes from the first day of WMU classes in a semester through the last day of the break before the next semester begins. Western Michigan University students are automatically assessed a health center operations fee as part of the University's tuition. They are not affected by this change.
For patients already receiving continuing care at Sindecuse Health Center but deciding not to pay the access fee, arrangements may be made for a transition to outside providers.
This policy goes into effect July 1, 2021 for psychiatry patients.
Patients affected, who will be charged the buy-in fee:
• KVCC and Kalamazoo College students and employees
• Graduated and past WMU students who are eligible for up to a year after graduation or last attendance.
