I graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana, where I studied Psychology and Addictions Counseling. After completing my undergraduate degree, I worked in the areas of substance abuse and juvenile justice, as well as on an inpatient psychiatric unit. Although I thought I would take some time off before starting graduate school, I found that I really missed being in an academic setting with my peers. I quickly enrolled in the graduate Social Work program here at WMU. Following graduation, I worked as an individual therapist with children, adolescents, and families, where I gained knowledge and experience working with trauma, crisis management, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and ADHD. I also have specific training in the areas of Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Within Counseling Services, my primary role is to meet with students for their initial intake sessions. Many students can be apprehensive about opening up to a counselor for the first time. I hope to make you feel comfortable and safe to share about your experiences and how you are feeling. I look forward to talking with you!
